I took a handful of Stafford’s finest swimmers to the Derbyshire dales in what is my last away meet. Derventio eXcel’s September meet at Matlock marked The first competition of the season against quality competition from all over the country. Aims of midland short course times were in sight and every swimmer knew what they needed to do.On the Saturday there were pb’s for Joe, Arthur, Simon and Ben- who’s come back very strongly from a long injury. Personal bests in the 100 and 200 freestyle for most and a long-awaited 50 back personal best for Simon is just what we needed to kick the season off.The Sunday delivered more quality.
