Derventio eXcel Meet

I took a handful of Stafford’s finest swimmers to the Derbyshire dales in what is my last away meet. Derventio eXcel’s September meet at Matlock marked The first competition of the season against quality competition from all over the country. Aims of midland short course times were in sight and every swimmer knew what they needed to do.On the Saturday there were pb’s for Joe, Arthur, Simon and Ben- who’s come back very strongly from a long injury. Personal bests in the 100 and 200 freestyle for most and a long-awaited 50 back personal best for Simon is just what we needed to kick the season off.The Sunday delivered more quality. Simon winning his heat with ease, Joe and Ben using each other on the 200 breaststroke and large pb’s for Joe. Ben smashing an old pb on the 400 free by 10 seconds shows that the first few weeks of the season have been positive. Arthur finished the meet off with a PB on the 200 back. So early in the season it’s positive to see such good results to build on with the upcoming Autumn meet in just a couple weeks. Once again, very proud to be a part of the team and not one of the five let me down
