Congratulations to Finn Nicholl who came 3rd in the 100m freestyle at the Swim England Summer championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
Finn competed in the 100&200 free from times he achieved in May at Manchester and Sheffield. Although these personal bests were recorded just over 2 months ago, he showed significant improvements.
Beginning the day 12th, he managed to finish 7th in the final after 2 personal best swims to achieve his first winter national qualifying time of 2:00.92. 2.91 seconds faster than he began the day.
In the 100m he did a strong heat swim to place 2nd into the final. And, whilst doing the same as in the 200, pb'd in both races and achieved the winter national qualifying time with a 55.18. This was a 1.46 second PB from the start of the day.
Finishing 3rd despite improving his time, we are all immensely proud of Finn who achieved a first national medal for Apex in many years and at his first championships.
