Tom Derbyshire was presented with an Honorary Life Membership of the Club.
This year he competed in the European Championships in Glasgow as part of Team GB, in the 1500m freestyle and 800m freestyle.
​
Paul Stanley, Stephen Stanley and Finn Nicholl received Long Service Awards for completing 10 years with the club.
​

The Club recognises the following achievements by swimmers in the 2017-2018 season:

Club Captain Finn Nicholl had another amazing year with many wins, at County and Regional Level and qualified for the Winter Nationals and the British Championships. He was selected to swim for Staffordshire twice and also won the Sport Stafford Under 18 Sports Performer of the Year (Male).

 

The following swimmers who qualified for the West Midlands Regional Championships were given commemorative awards:

Olivia Ball, Charli Dunn, Guy Bayley, Brooke Frost, Calum Gorman, Simon Hadfield, Zack Hancox, Thando Hart, Arthur Mears, Finn Nicholl, Stephen Stanley, Ben Scarrott, Joe Stratton, James Sutton, Harrison Turner, Matthew Walker.

 

At these regional championships the following swimmers won medals:

Finn Nicholl - Gold 400free, 200 free, 50 fly, 100 free, 100 fly, 50 free, Silver 200IM;

​

Joe Stratton - Silver 1500m free, Bronze 200 IM, 400IM;

Simon Hadfield- Bronze 50 back. 

​

In addition the following swimmers made finals:

Simon Hadfield (100m back)

Thando Hart (50 breast, 50 free)

Arthur Mears (200m back, 100m back, 50m back)

Ben Scarrott (100m breast, 200m breast)

Stephen Stanley (100m breast, 200m breast)

Joe Stratton (50m breast, 100m breast, 200m breast)

The following Swimmers qualified for the Open Water National Championships:

Brooke Frost, Evie Bott, Joe Stratton, James Sutton, Olivia Ball.

Charli Dunn completed the Young Volunteer Course. This includes the Timekeepers Course, Aquatic Helper Course, First Steps into Coaching and Core Skills First Aid.

Harrison Turner, Olivia Ball and Helena Hordern completed the Timekeepers Course.

Our swimmers achieved the following at the County Championships:

Apex won the Mens Senior Championship Trophy.

Apex won the Relays Points Trophy.

County Championships: Champions - Finn Nicholl (Senior 100m free, Junior 50 fly, Junior 100 fly,                                            Junior 100m free, Junior 400m free),

                                         Stephen Stanley (Senior 50m breast, Senior 100m breast),

                                         Ben Cope (Senior 200m Breast, Senior 400m IM),

                                         Tom Watkin (Junior 50 free)  

                                         plus Championship Medals Silver – 10, Bronze – 5

Age Group: Gold -17, Silver-25, Bronze-27

 

Relays Championships: Champions - Mens Freestyle, Mens Medley, Senior Mixed Freestyle,

                                         Boys Freestyle, Girls Freestyle, plus silver in Boys Medley

Age Group County Relays: Gold- 3, Silver - 4, Bronze - 1

 

And last, but not least, well done to all our swimmers who have trained hard all year and who represent the club so well at all events we attend.
