West Midlands Championships 2018 -1st Weekend

Well done to all Apex swimmers who competed on the first weekend of the West Midlands Championships: Joe Stratton, Finn Nicholl, Ben Scarrott, Simon Hadfield & Arthur Mears. They ensured that the coach would not get home early by getting into 6 finals between them across both days. Many PBs were achieved and there were lots of great swims. On Saturday, Finn Nicholl won Gold in the 100m freestyle and Silver in the 200m IM in the 16 Year Age Group. Joe Stratton won two bronze medals: one on Saturday in the 14 Year Age group 200m IM, and one on Sunday in the 14/under 400m IM. Arthur Mears (16 Years) and Simon Hadfield (17/Over) both reached the finals for the 100m backstroke.

Congratulations to Finn Nicholl - Sport Stafford Under-18 Sports Performer of the Year | Male

Well done to our Club Captain, Finn Nicholl, who has won the Stafford Borough Sports Award for the Under-18 Sports Performer of the Year (Male). This was won against particularly strong opposition from Morgan Gibbs-White and Aiden Stone, both top level footballers. Finn is pictured with all of his awards from the 2018 Staffordshire County Championships and again receiving his Sport Stafford Award. https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/sport-stafford-borough-awards-live-1510001

Strong results in Liverpool

Competing against clubs as far as Millfield and the Yorkshire Dales, there were many swimmers with the aim of posting good times in the window and every swimmer from Apex delivered with strong performances. Joe and Finn produced times which put them inside the rankings in multiple events, including a strong 400 IM pb for Joe and a 13 second long course 400 free pb for Finn. Helena knocked 10 seconds off from just 2 weeks ago in her 800 and carried on the large Improvements al
